Celebrating Impact: Queens Gambit Instructor Luke Martin Honored with Heart of Hampton Award

That’s why we are incredibly proud to share that our longtime youth instructor Luke Martin has been named a Heart of Hampton Award recipient by the Hampton Alliance for Educational Excellence (HAEE).

For over seven years, Luke has been a cornerstone of Queens Gambit programming. In that time, he has mentored hundreds of students, helping them develop not only chess skills but also confidence, patience, resilience, and strategic thinking. Luke approaches instruction with a rare blend of calm leadership and genuine care. Whether he’s guiding a beginner through their first game or helping an advanced player analyze a complex position, he meets students where they are and helps them move forward.
