Queens Gambit & Boys & Girls Clubs of Western PA Launch “Her Next Move” to Empower Girls Through Chess and Leadership

Queens Gambit is thrilled to announce our latest partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania on a groundbreaking initiative: Her Next Move - an all-girls chess and leadership program designed to inspire the next generation of changemakers.

Starting this fall, Her Next Move will bring together girls ages 8 to 13 for a ten-week journey that blends chess instruction with interactive games and leadership development. Hosted on Monday evenings from September 15 to November 17, this dynamic program helps participants strengthen their decision-making, collaboration, and confidence - all through the lens of the chessboard.

Why chess? Because it’s more than just a game. It’s a powerful tool for teaching girls how to think critically, trust their instincts, and make bold moves - both in life and on the board. From mastering openings and endgames to building communication skills and exploring identity as leaders, each session is thoughtfully designed to encourage strategic thinking and empower young minds.

We’re especially proud to collaborate with Boys & Girls Clubs of Western PA, whose commitment to youth development aligns perfectly with Queens Gambit's mission to use chess as a vehicle for equity, empowerment, and education. Together, we’re creating a space where girls feel seen, supported, and strong - and where leadership isn’t just a concept, but a practiced skill.

For just $15, participants receive expert instruction, a supportive community, and a program t-shirt to wear with pride. Whether they’re picking up a chess piece for the first time or sharpening their competitive edge, every girl who joins Her Next Move is stepping into her power.

As we like to say at Queens Gambit: your next move can change everything.
