Board Member Spotlight: Brett Fulesday

At Queens Gambit, our board is filled with changemakers who lead with heart, strategy, and a deep commitment to our mission. Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Brett Fulesday, Treasurer of the Queens Gambit Board of Directors and a strategic thinker with a deep commitment to service. With more than two decades of experience in business valuation, Brett brings financial clarity, governance expertise, and a passion for community impact to the board.

“I’ve spent more than 20 years providing business-valuation services for individuals as well as public and privately held, early-stage and mature companies,” Brett shares. “Ten or so years into my career, feeling disconnected from the community, I joined a local Rotary Club, and I've prioritized nonprofit service since.”

Brett currently serves as Sr. Manager of Valuation Services at CFGI, a national financial consulting firm. But his interest in Queens Gambit isn’t just about numbers—it’s about values and vision.

“The parallels between chess and life are many, and I welcomed the opportunity to support an organization that uses chess as a vehicle to develop useful and practical life skills.”

Brett believes that chess offers young people a framework not only for intellectual development, but for navigating life with purpose and precision.

“Viewing life as a chessboard is a more health-conscious alternative to viewing life as a box of chocolates.”

As Treasurer, Brett plays a vital role in ensuring the organization remains financially strong as it grows. And he has a bold vision for that growth.

“There’s no reason why Queens Gambit couldn’t have chapters around the world.”

His blend of analytical acumen and creative thinking is matched by a fun side you might not expect:

“I used to blog about video games.”

At Queens Gambit, we’re grateful to have Brett’s expertise, humor, and forward-thinking perspective helping guide our mission. With leaders like him at the table, our next move is always a strong one.
