Youth Instructor Luke Martin is 2025 Outstanding Young Citizen Awardee

We are beyond proud to congratulate Luke Martin, one of our dedicated youth instructors, for being named an Outstanding Young Citizen Awardee by Trib Live!

This prestigious award recognizes Western Pennsylvania high school juniors and seniors who demonstrate exceptional character, leadership, dedication to community service, and academic excellence. Luke’s recognition is a testament to his hard work and commitment to both his academic pursuits and his community.

Luke has been with Queens Gambit for over seven years, serving as an instructor for our Next Move Leaders Program, where he has had a profound impact on our students. His passion for teaching and leadership is also reflected in his extensive extracurricular involvement, including his roles as a student ambassador for Junior Achievement and the Moments of Focus LLC, his position as a defensive captain for the North Hills Dek Hockey team, and his leadership with the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church Youth Group.

In addition to his impressive community involvement, Luke has been recognized with several accolades, including the Golden Heart Award at Hampton High School and being named a Western PA Junior Achievement '18 Under 18' winner. He has also served as a speaker at community events and presented about chess programming and leadership at the Hampton Rotary Club.

Luke’s dedication to empowering others through chess is clear, and his plans for the future reflect his ambition to continue using his skills to make a difference. He hopes to attend a four-year university to study business and marketing, with aspirations of running his own business or chess nonprofit in the future.

Congratulations again, Luke! We are lucky to have you as part of the Queens Gambit family, and we can’t wait to see all that you will continue to accomplish.
